Yoga

Yoga is an ancient practice originating from India. It's literal translation from Sanskrit means 'to yoke' or 'to unite' and was traditionally practiced as a philosophy, spiritual practice and physical and mental practice. As someone who has practiced yoga for over ten years, and more recently as a teacher, I believe yoga can play a meaningful part in deepening our connection to ourselves and the world. I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training in 2018 and have since gone on to train in Yoga for Trauma and Yin Yoga and Yoga Therapy. I have experience teaching community based yoga classes, yoga workshops, yoga in workplaces and individual sessions. I bring all of this into my work with individuals and groups.

I continue to return to yoga as a way of making time for myself, nurturing my body and finding stability. It is that same sense of space and nourishment that I hope to offer in my teaching. I offer individual trauma-informed yoga sessions, group sessions for charities, workplaces, and private groups. For those working with me therapeutically, yoga can be woven into the counselling process itself. Sessions are available both in person and online.

My Approach To Yoga

My teaching integrates movement, breath, and embodied awareness. I offer Yin yoga - a slower, meditative practice that invites stillness and a deep connection to the body. I also offer Vinyasa, which links movement with breath - this can range from a gentle flow to a more strength-focused practice. Sessions are tailored to the individual or group.

For those who find the body a difficult place to be, I work with grounding tools and a trauma-informed approach so that the practice feels safe and right for you. My classes aim to be welcoming and accessible for all bodies and all levels of experience
