Welcome

I'm Sorcha, a person-centred counsellor and yoga teacher based in Scotland. For me, what makes therapy meaningful is the relationship between counsellor and client. In my practice, I work to build a space where you can feel genuinely met and free to explore what feels important to you.

Who we are and how we feel can't be separated from the world we live in - our relationships, our communities, and the systems and experiences that have shaped us. I try to hold all of that in my work with you, offering a space where you don't have to leave any part of your experience at the door.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent several years working in the voluntary sector, providing support work and casework across a range of charitable organisations. Much of that work was with people navigating some of life's most difficult circumstances, such as mental health crisis and homelessness, often without adequate support from the systems around them. What became clear to me in that work was the importance of helping relationships - how much it could mean to someone to feel heard and supported, and how rarely people had access to that. It was this reason that brought me to counselling.

I went on to complete a diploma in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy with Persona Development and Training. For the past 3 years have been offering counselling in voluntary agencies, including community counselling and domestic abuse services. I work from a trans-inclusive feminist perspective which aims to be informed by anti-oppressive principles.

Alongside my counselling practice, I also offer yoga, which I believe can be a powerful complement to therapeutic work.
